Niagara, North Santiam
I R1'd the Niagara section at about 1,000 cfs: tight gaps, rodeo and good hits. Niagara is the hardest of the North Santiam's year-round runs, with a narrow slot at Niagara rapid that's about 4.5 feet wide at low water (Oregon Kayaking). A small raft that pivots fast is the only way to fit.
The White Salmon and Husum Falls
On the White Salmon we did "Huckin' Husum" and a fun run, R3, with carnage among the boats and two runs of Husum Falls, the Class V drop on the BZ Corner run (How's Your River).
The Grande Ronde
Then the Lance got loaded down with gear and R1'd up to 18 miles in a day on the Grande Ronde, which shows how efficient this little boat is when you need it to cover ground.
