Project HorizonLine: The Start of the Project Series

Project HorizonLine is my all-time favorite video: the best clips I'd filmed up to that point, across a lot of different boats. It kicks off the Project series and teases my SOTAR sponsorship at the end.

Disclosure: SOLWYRX Paddle Gear sells SOTAR gear, and I earn money when you buy it here. SOTAR also sponsors me as an athlete.

What's in it

Rafts, inflatable kayaks, hardshells, R1, rowing and racing: HorizonLine pulls from all of it. A horizon line is what a drop looks like from upstream, the edge where the river disappears, and that's what this video felt like to me: the edge of something new.

The Project series

HorizonLine started a series of short, high-energy edits that document my progression. It continues with Project Streamline, Project AIRBORNE and The OLDGROWTH project.

The tease

The end of the video teases the start of my sponsorship with SOTAR, the Merlin, Oregon raft and kayak builder. Today I'm both a sponsored athlete and an authorized dealer, so you can find SOTAR boats in the shop. The bigger story of how it all came together is in From God, for God: the SOLWYRX story.

Personal trip report: flows, wood and hazards change, and what worked for me that day isn't a rule for your boat or group. Check current conditions, scout, and boat within your training.
